About Us

Messenger Christian Ministries is a bible based, Christ centered outreach ministry whose purpose is to nurture the unsaved, lost, hopeless, desperate, and outcasts of our community and to love and serve THOSE and all people into the kingdom through an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.

Messenger Christian Ministries exists to ensure that our Celebrate Recovery (CR) Ministry will always have a home church and a Pastor that understand the need for recovery and the value of loving "those" people. That IS what Jesus did and what he does. Jesus didn't recruit disciples from the synagogues or the seminary. He recruited 'regular people' and often those ordinary people were outcasts or low on the totem pole, what we might call "those people." We believe that God qualifies those he calls regardless of past mistakes or current struggles while recognizing that we do need to deal with whatever baggage we have accumulated throughout life so we can be effective. Messenger was born out of necessity and is a recovery ministry who's message is intended to compliment and assist in the recovery journey. We found that not all churches want to involve 'people like us,'  that is, people that have experienced or struggle with trauma, abuse, incarceration, addiction, co-dependency, anger, lust, depression, anxiety, and the list goes on. That said, one year of abstinence or stable recovery is required to hold any leadership position and all members of leadership have a structured system of accountability, from the Pastor to the trash collector - accountability is key to a successful recovery!

Messenger exists not only to welcome and love 'those people' that are works in progress, but to disciple followers of Christ and train leaders. We will meet people where they are and we will walk out the tough times alongside anyone willing to do the work. Anyone not willing to put in the work on their own recovery (from whatever it is that has made their life unmanageable), will likely not feel at home with us. That's okay! Different things work for different people and we know that a one-size fits all approach doesn't always work. Whatever your struggle, we are here to support your recovery journey. Attending Messenger doesn't mean you have to attend CR and attending CR doesn't mean you have to attend Messenger. Many of our CR participants have a different home church and that is also okay. We hope you will check out a meeting sometime.

Celebrate Recovery, The Landing, and Celebration Place Meet for dinner at 5:45 P.M. Thursdays followed by the large group meetings at 7:00 P.M. We meet @ 701 S Seward Meridian Pkwy in Wasilla. Messenger Christian Ministries meets Sunday evenings @ 6:00 P.M. (at the same location). We utilize Wasilla Community Church's (WCC) building and maintain a strong relationship with WCC but are a separate church and ministry.

Childcare is available for infants and toddlers during our Celebrate Recovery meetings (Thursday evenings), as well as our Messenger Christian Ministries services (Sunday evening as needed). All individuals working with children and teenagers have been vetted for safety. We take the safety and security of all children seriously. If you have school aged children (Kindergarten through 12th grade), there are recovery meetings available for them as well on Thursday evenings (see details about Celebration Place and The Landing on our Home Page).
